“I like to see a man proud of the place he lives. I like to see a man live so that his place is proud of him.” – Abraham Lincoln
For a week I had been at Carlene’s dad’s houseboat at the lake. There is absolutely no signal there, so no texting, no facebook and twitter, and obviously, NO BLOGGING.
So quick recap, right now I am in Coeur D Alene, Idaho [eyy new state], Donna’s (Carlene’s mom) partner has a cabin on the lake so we’re ending our week here. THE WATER IS FREEZING OVER HERE!!!
So back to Fruitland, the houseboat, although big, not huge for everyone to have much of their own space. I spent two nights out on the beach in a tent, it was definitely private, somewhat creepy but fun. I heard every noise, I kept thinking a Native Indian was going to find me and think I’m one of his people and take me back – we were opposite an Indian reservation.
The only open water I’ve ever swam in is salt water so this whole freshwater thing is kind of a little weird and also partly annoying. You can barely float without having to bob your head a million times while you rest your arms because they’ve gotten close to turning to mush from the vigorous movement.
Coeur d’Alene was pretty fun, Steve has a cabin, really cozy, we took his speed boat to the beach, I’m calling it the ‘stoney beach’ because the shore was just filled with tiny stones that could seriously damage your feet.
So I have a fear of heights, it isn’t like a huge fear, I just occasionally feel dizzy and sometimes have a panic attack, nothing major, I know. Well, Carlene thought that taking me parasailing would be the greatest idea, I was petrified, loved the view but petrified. Half way through the ride, there was this random dip they did so we could be dunked in the water for a few seconds and then they shot us back into the galaxies beyond and I swear I saw my heart fall to the bottom of the lake – given that its freshwater, you could actually see the bottom, and it was a horrible sight.
What an eventful few weeks it’s been, and it’s finally time to go back home.
Lets hope this time I’m gonna be able to sleep in my own bed for a longer period of time before I need to leave again!
